Northern Minnesota Reviews
Located near Pine City, MN. this is a good place to do some grilling in the summer, deer hunting in the fall, and Ice fishing in the winter.
the snowmobile trail is 100 yards away from the lodge, letting you access all of northern Minnesota's trail systems
This is my favorite place. An hour north of Grand Marais, Hungry Jack Lodge is great for camping or renting a cabin. The two best cabins to rent ( in my opinion ) are the Elk, and the Deer. you can rent boats in the summer and snowmobiles in the winter. I've got more reviewing to do for this lodge, but for now I'm giving it an 8 on a scale of 1-10 because the fishing was poor, and the owner is crabby.
There are many places to stay when you go to Lutsen, I prefer Caribou Highlands, you can ski in and out of the lodge which is great, and the rooms are larger and more comfortable than others on the mountain. There is no better skiing than this anywhere in MN. or WI. scale of 1-10, I give it an 7
An hour and 20 min. north of Grand Marais on the Gunflint Trail, this place is a romantic get away that's worth checking out.
The Canadian border runs through the middle of the lake so there are some rules you have to follow when boating
I have stayed here many times, it's very rustic, has electricity but no indoor plumbing (out house & hauled in water ). snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter is the best, there's no real road getting into the place so spring and fall can be muddy, summer can get hot being there's no air conditioning. on a scale from 1-10 I give Cooter Lake Lodge a 4
The Gunflint Lodge is one of my favorites. No need to go to Canada, the gunflint trail is just as good.
There's two things I need to warn you about.
1. the lake is very deep ( 200 ft in spots)
don't get stuck out there when the wind picks up. It doesn't take much of a breeze for the waves to become dangerous.
2. Guys. this is where you bring your woman, if your going fishing with the fellas, stay somewhere else on the trail, (like Hungry Jack). make a day trip here to zip line or fish.
on a scale from 1-10 I give the Gunflint Lodge an 8

Located on Lake Vermilion this is a cool place because your on an Island. The only bad thing is that you'r stuck on an Island..
I only say that because it rained most of the time we were there, and there's really no where to go when that happens.
The Hospitality here is awesome though, these guys really treat you like a king. be ready to tip these people at the end of your stay, because you really WILL want too. On a scale of 1-10 I give Ludlow's Island resort a 7
I would not recommend going here unless you enjoy being killed and eaten by Bigfoot.
On a scale from 1-10 I give Virginia, MN. a 2
